ACE funding awarded to Mandala

Arts Council England has awarded Mandala Theatre Company one of its Grants for the Arts, giving us the green light to take our new show, Castaways, on tour to more than 15 venues in 2018.

Artistic director Yasmin Sidhwa said: “We know that competition for Arts Council funding is keener than ever before, so we’re absolutely thrilled to see our pioneering work recognised with this award.”

This is the second of Mandala’s productions that Arts Council England have funded through its Grants for the Arts scheme. Its debut production, Night Light, specially commissioned by the company, toured in 2016 and 2017 to critical acclaim. Its second production, written by Atiha Sen Gupta and directed by Yasmin Sidhwa, artistic director of Mandala, starts its UK-wide tour in Bedford on 1 May.

The company is aiming to secure match funding, which will support its outreach programme.

Grants for the Arts is funded by The National Lottery. It is an open-application programme funding arts activities that engage people in England, or that help artists and arts organisations carry out their work.
